ABOUT FNM



Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (FNM) started at Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan Branch, first in 1992, by establishing an undergraduate program in nursing, followed by a two-year diploma in midwifery in 1993. FNM was reevaluated by Iran Ministry of Health and Education in 2002 and was qualified to educate nurses and midwives. The faculty obtained the necessary authorization in 2006 from IAU and in 2008 from the Development Committee of Iran Ministry of Health and Education to establish graduate programs in nursing.

At the present time, there are four working departments including Nursing, Midwifery, Nursing Education, and Basic Medical Sciences offering two undergraduate programs in Nursing and Midwifery as well as one graduate program in Nursing Education. FNM has introduced 900 BS graduates in Nursing, 55 in Midwifery, 675 diploma graduates in Midwifery, and 20 MS alumni in Nursing Education.

Graduate Department of Nursing Education Offers Four MS programs in:

· Medical Surgical Nursing

· Community Health Nursing

· Pediatric Nursing

· Psychiatric Nursing





Department of Midwifery Offers:

· One BS Program in Midwifery



Department of Basic Medical Sciences Offers:

· Basic Courses to both Graduate and Undergraduate Students



The faculty offices and classrooms reside in a nine-class, two-story building known as Building of Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery. At the present time, 30 full-time faculty members including one professor, two associate professors, five assistant professors, 12 instructors, and eight clinical tutors teach at FNM. The faculty is equipped with eight laboratories, computer sites, and one library in an area of 2600 square meters. More than 900 students are studying different majors at different levels in this faculty:



· BS Students in Nursing: 453 students

· MS students in Nursing Education: 130 students

· BS students in Midwifery: 331 students
